Major Update Coming up!

First of all, thank you! Thank you for playing my game. I'm so happy for the fourth place on the TEXT gamejam. I will talk about the future of the game, and what I learned. Please note this is my first devlog! Also have a nice holiday, spend some time with the loved ones, rest and take care!

The art of konohASCII:

You may (or atleast I hope) you noticed the animation. It's all individually written, all of the animations. The procedure was rather easy and monotone. Here are the steps:

  1. I nabbed some sprite sheets from Naruto HQ. 
  2. I fired up CS6 and loaded the sprite sheet.
  3. Then I typed a letter, aligned it and repeated this step, until it was done.

I realise there may have been an easier way to animate, but after sometime, I really enjoyed typing the animation (no), but I don't recommend this solution, unless you enjoy suffering, you little Masochist. 

Development Choices, and some Inside look:

You may notice that my game design skills, are...well dogshit at best. Before this project, I finished 2 other projects (which I may publish not so sure yet). When I had the idea in my head, I was ignited. I sat down and carefully Planned this Project. I used a really useful website and application called Trello. It's a table Application, where one can Plan and Manage projects. I wanted to finish the game for the jam and also the visit day, to show off. The gamejam started off in November, when I started working. Whilst working I was afraid that the Visit day would be sooner than I think, and I was right. It was on the 16th. I promised my Headteacher (or homeroom teacher) to bring a project for the visit day. So I panicked, and rushed the development a bit (a bit...I mean a lot). Lot's of content we're cut out. I was working all day and it was not pleasant. But I finished the "Demo" version which you can download as of today. I learned a lot of stuff, and I also wrote the longest script as of this project.

What's next ?

After publishing the game, I wandered if I wanted to continue the game or not. I mean, it wasn't the most creative game I made. But it had potential. So after a few week rest, I decided to the answer: "Yes". However please note that the update is not yet done, but I want to finish it this decade, so stay tune!

Endless mode:

In the current version, the only available mode play is just a single level with enemies and kunai's scattered around. Now There will be an endless mode where you can play Endlessly (duh), and also collect Medallion's. What are Medallion's ? Ninja's who enter the battlefield, are usually unknown, or will be unkown. So that they remain, Kage's created Medallions, which have their ninja's name's engraved in them. Naruto can collect Medallion's from chest's or by simply killing his prey's.

Story Modes:

I will introduce 2 playable modes. A story mode, for uzumASCII and uchihASCII. The stories are recreation of famous events in the NARUTO manga and anime. You can fight bosses, and re-experience the combat. You will be able to use the famous Sharingan, or the Lord fourth's finest technique which requires extremely refined chakra control, the Rasengan.
